Each week, we hope to share a few photos – just some simple moments from our farm to you giving you an insiders view on what life at the farm looks like.
Since we both work full time jobs with slightly different schedules, Saturdays are the ONLY day of the week that we both have off.
What does that mean for today’s email?
Together, we get to scoop a lot of hay and poop on Saturdays!
Journey with us below as we give you some before and after shots of cleaning out our ewes pen.
Pen Before Cleaning
As the week progresses, these girls get a bit carried away with their hay wasting abilities
Here is a close up of Pua (one of our shy girls) but you can see below the hay on the ground is A LOT of poop
Pen During Cleaning
We start by raking up the hay (resulting in a gigantic pile) then we get to work on the poops with our shovels
Kai always makes sure we both give her AMPLE attention on pen cleaning day
Jeff hard at work with his pitch fork, taking the hay from pile to bucket
Pretty sure we filled the bucket twice for this pen
Pen After Cleaning
Generally it takes us both 30-45 minutes for this pen (depending on how bad it was, and if the weather is cooperating with us or not!), but what a difference now that it’s all cleaned
It’s quite a noticeable change from Pua’s photo above to where these girls are standing now. Of course, they already add more poops before we can even snap the picture 😂 Our work is never finished!
Now that you know how we spend most of our Saturday mornings, we’d love to know - how do you spend yours!
(hopefully doing something a little more fun and less messy!)
